Leadership ​Forums

W​e bring together thought leaders, researchers, and policy-makers to exchange ideas and collaborate on effective solutions to the challenges of the 21st century.

Research and Innovation faces constant challenges amidst economic, political and cultural forces that impact universities and research organizations seeking to make a difference to our world. The University for Sustainability envisions a key role in shaping the research environment through the strategic combination of policy research, innovative practice and research leadership networks.

Member universities and research organizations face increasing challenges present in emergent and current issues of impact to research and innovation. In partnership with its members, the policy community and international organizations, the University for Sustainability applies knowledge to practice and policy in research and innovation, strengthens institutional capacity and raises members' profiles to meet funding challenges in the context of international competition.
Key Priorities:

  1. To advance opportunities in research, promoting quality through professional development, in the context of international competition and funding challenges.
  2. To build networks of academic leaders and specialists for capacity-building, connecting international expertise to national and institutional challenges. 
  3. To partner with other international organisations to ensure that the University for Sustainability plays a significant and influential policy role; for by 2022 the University for Sustainability will host one of the world's largest sustainable development research ecosystems supporting.​
​To advance its priorities the University for Sustainability organizes a number of executive forums

Executive Forums
The University for Sustainability convenes groups of higher education university leadership and experts to build members' institutional capacities, benchmark practices and internationalization strategies, and to form partnerships with international organisations. Our annual meetings address issues in research strategy and productivity, and collaborative research impact.

Annual Presidents' Meeting
​The Annual Presidents' Meeting is the centerpiece of the University for Sustainability’s calendar of events. Leaders of the University for Sustainability member universities meet to interact on issues relating to the future of research and education for sustainable development. The event usually takes place over two and a half days, beginning with a welcome dinner, and encompassing a Forum which may include keynote speeches, discussion forums, and panel and group discussions.
